It’s November and oddly warm for the time of the year. I don’t know if that means winter is going to be mild or the cold weather is just biding its time. We shall see . . .

A few brief updates, the most important one being that my coauthor of “The Last Job: File 3454”, Zach, and myself have the marketing for our book set. Things will be happening next year in January. I’m excited and Zach is too.

We worked hard on “The Last Job” and I look forward to hearing what people think of our book. It started out as a conversation in a restaurant, a weekly exchange of brainstorms, and after two years of perseverance, a novel was born.

I’ll keep updating here on this humble site as things unfold.

In other news, I’ve been making progress with one writing project I intend on releasing on the site. This time I’m writing a horror comedy. “The Last Job” has some comedy mixed with horror in it but it's more of an action/adventure tale (to me, anyway).

This latest project I’ve been working on has been a lot of fun. I haven’t written a straight up horror comedy before and thought I’d give it a shot. It’s been a blast to write more consistently again. I just need to keep the momentum going and keep writing.

More on that when the project is ready for the blog spotlight. Yes, I am keeping you in suspense, it is a horror story after all. 😉

And one final thing is . . . I caved. I’ve been listening to “The Miskatonic University Podcast” so much that I bought a “Call of Cthulhu” RPG book. I don’t buy RPG books often so this one seemed like it would be a lot of fun to check out.

Here is the thing, the local gaming stores I checked out did not have the “Keeper’s Guide”, which is the essential core rulebook to run the game. They did have the player’s handbook called “The Investigator’s Guide.” Tabletop RPGs are a blast to play, especially with people you share interests with and have a common sense of humor.

Not sure what will come of this. I did buy a starter kit for “Call of Cthulhu” a few years back. I’ve been thumbing through it and it looks like something I could get into. Now I have the player’s handbook and I’m curious to see what that has. It’s all hardcover and black and has this elephant goddess statue that looks both majestic and creepy as hell.

This Investigator’s Guide is going to be a fun read.

My favorite RPG system will always be Savage Worlds. I actually have “Realms of Cthulhu” which is a game book that converts the rules for “Call of Cthulhu” to Savage Worlds. And on a road trip, I went into a game store and bought this charming little handbook called “Keeper’s Tips” which had a gold font on a red hardcover.

Needless to say, I’ve been interested in horror tabletop RPGs like “Call of Cthulhu” for a while now. Maybe something will come of it for the blog? Or maybe I’ll get into it with friends and share my adventures in a Rant.

Or maybe this is a lesson on how dangerous it is to listen to hours and hours of a podcast that talks about a certain topic. And after hours and hours, you get curious. You check on the topic for a few minutes online then start to think of buying it in the future. Then it happens, you walk into a store and there it is, tempting you. And you cave.

Well, what was meant to be a brief update is now a nice juice Rant. I’m going to try and automate the blog post to be released on Wednesday morning. Apparently, blogs can do that(question mark?) Well, we’ll find out. If this posts on the 5th, then it was a technical issue or my derp.

PS: This blog was written on 11/5/24 in the late evening. Found the “Keeper’s Tips” and will put it in the title pic. Add those black “Dreamblade” dice again. Got to work those into a “Call of Cthulhu” game. So cool!
