******Beginning of Part Three******

We continue into madness with the list of 37 anime I binged in a month. Now barreling through the twenties! Are they roaring twenties? Well, 20# is roaring loud because . . .

It will grow back next episode 🦎

20# Africa Salaryman

So, have you ever dared yourself to watch something? While looking through the comedy section on Crunchyroll, I discovered this gem. And boy-oh-boy what a gem. This is a Japanese animated comedy that feels like it is parodying western animated series like the Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Family Guy. It has that feel to it.

The story follows a group of office workers who are anthropomorphic animals. Now the lion may seem like he’s the lead but in reality the toucan steals the show. I have seen some asshole characters in anime but this toucan could be straight out of a series like The Office. I have never seen a comedy anime character act like such a dick.

And a lot of the other characters act like dicks too. It is amazing how much dickish behavior happens in this anime and nobody is murdered. So if you like comedies with characters who act like the worst humans (animals?) to one another, then this might be a show for you. Oh and I can’t close a talk about this show without screaming AFRICA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS!!!!!

Oh! And 🪦 Lizard’s tail.

21# Monster Girl Doctor

So there exists a series called Monster Musume which is all about monsters that really exist in the real world and are becoming a part of human society. The series follows a high school guy whose home is made into a boarding house for Monster Girls studying abroad. And yes, the monster girls are so sexy that the guy tries his darndest to keep his boner in check. It's a screw-ball, horndog comedy that I’d like to see and have a few good laughs at.

But Crunchyroll does not have Monster Musume.

So I found a similar series called Monster Girl Doctor. Now the lead guy is a doctor and is a genuine good guy who treats all the monster girls with respect. But being a doctor, he has to do examinations with his hands, and wow, those scenes have nothing erotic happening in them. But if you closed your eyes and listened to the voice actresses moan and groan, you would think you’re watching something else . . .

Yeah and those “erotic examination” scenes are few and far between, so they do not ruin the charm this show builds. They are just shocking, like a centaur girl in bondage. Yeah, not selling the innocence and charm of the show with that statement but that really happened.

The show mostly follows this doctor who helps the monster girls and treat their illnesses and injuries. I found myself oddly invested in this show that could easily be another horndog-goofball harem anime. Though, the monster girls all falling for this guy is a bit much and happens way too fast. At least the lamia girl who is the doctor’s assistant has a history with him. And she is not afraid to express her jealousy. This could have easily been Pokemon with monster girl.

It was a fun show and had an interesting world with creative character designs. I was genuinely surprised with this one.

22# The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter

Oh, this one. This harem comedy. I looked it up to remember it and yeah, it's another power fantasy anime. The lead guy enters a dungeon only he can enter . . . yeah, right there on the tin, and he meets an imprisoned adventurer. An adventurer who is a sexy woman with a hot figure and generous rack. Yeah, it's one of those anime.

So this adventurer woman bestows this lead guy with crazy cheat powers. His imagination is literally the limit. There is a catch, he has to use LP (life points) to use his powers. And if his life points reach zero, he dies. So how does he replenish LP? The adventurer tells him that if he fulfills worldly desires, his LP will rise. In other words, anything makes this guy happy, his LP rises.

If you cannot see where this is going, I will be blunt: getting a boner counts towards LP gain. And he has a best friend who is a hot blonde with big boobs and has a huge crush on him and yeeeah. She gives him lots of LP. More girls fall for this guy and he builds a harem that helps him build LP. Now the guy is not a scumbag (well, not completely) and only asks the girls for hugs and kisses to help him power up (not in that way but yes).

And at least he uses that LP he gains for good causes that benefit others and defeat evildoers. But man-oh-man, I have to say. When he turns to his harem for some LP, I feel like he should be getting more than he gets. The girls who fondle over him are way hotter than he desires. Maybe eating awesome food and winning battles give him more joy so more LP technically?

No, this is just a power fantasy with a mechanical excuse to have hot chicks rub their big boobs all over him. Power up, young man.

I don’t know, it was a fun show but was pretty generic for the fantasy-harem genre and leaned a little hard in the fan-servous at times. I guess after how crazy Fruit of Evolution and other things I watched got, this kind of anime seems tame.

23# Dan Da Dan

This is the latest hot anime that's been making the rounds. It's gone viral and for good reason. It follows a girl who believes in spirits and a guy who believes in aliens. They argue because one does not believe the other’s belief and they have a bet. So, the guy goes into a haunted tunnel and the girl goes into a building where aliens have been sighted.

And shit hits the fan within five minutes.

I really do not want to spoil anymore because a lot of this anime’s appeal is the crazy buildup and wild things that happen to the leads. A lot of the reveals and comedy hinge on not knowing what's about to happen. So I’ll leave it at that.

I will spoil one thing, there is a badass grandmother and she is super hot. I’d like to see more of this series that explains why she is super young when she has a granddaughter in high school.

If the memes have not convinced you to check this series out, then hopefully my short pitch will.

24# Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!

Another Isekai and it was fun but I could not shake how generic it felt. This has some unique elements compared to other Isekais I have seen but it is pretty meh, IMO. The lead is overpowered, the friends she makes are also badasses, and the world they live in keeps throwing generic, over the top villains at them.

I think the best thing about this show was its use of referential humor. The lead is an otaku who is lovingly familiar with anime and constantly makes references to other anime. It's almost fun just figuring out what the lead’s facial expression references to. I’m a sucker for that kind of humor and it was a big part of why I stuck with this anime.

25# Sweet Blue Flowers

So, on occasions I discover something so earnest in what it’s doing that I cannot help but be speechless. I was looking for a rom-com and ended up with a solid girl-romance anime. At first, I was not sure what I was watching and as it played out, I became intrigued.

The lead is a sad and lonely girl who has a crush on her cousin (a girl), but her cousin is getting married (to a guy, ouch!). This throws the lead into a depression then she meets her best friend from elementary school. They become friends again and the lead cheers up a bit.

Now the lead is going to an all girls school and there is this tomboy who is the handsome “prince” of the school. Every girl wants to be friends with prince tomboy and some even want to date her. But then prince tomboy falls for the lead and they date for most of the show.

It was honestly fascinating for me to watch an honest romance anime that was not being funny or cheeky or even ironically cynical. It was a breath of fresh air after all the Isekais and comedies I watched. I recommend it to anyone who likes serious dramas with a lot of heart.

26# Koikimo

So a high school girl saves a young salaryman from falling to his death in a train subway. And he falls for her immediately. And come to find out, the young salaryman is the lead’s best friend’s brother. It is a story about how cringe can become love. Literally, the anime closes with that notice, I’m not kidding at all.

I actually found this one endearing for its premise of a high school girl and guy ten years older than her falling for one another. For one thing, this anime does not ignore the age difference and the adversity that comes for the leads is handled with some maturity. And the salaryman is genuinely being a good guy and his approach to romance is fun and funny. And the high school girl berates him but its in a charming and sweet kind of way.

It is an interesting watch to say the least. I was wondering where the anime was going and it never goes into super uncomfortable territory. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of cringe and I am pretty sure there will be people who find the romance uncomfortable due to the age difference.

But it was a solid and unique rom-com that I do recommend.

"BLAAAAAAAAAAH!" all the colors of the rainbow!

27# Skip and Loafer

So a country girl with big dreams moves to the city of Tokyo to attend high school. And she gets lost, is late for the first day of school, makes it to school with the help of a fellow classmate who is also running late, and then she pukes on her teacher. And that is just the first episode. This is one of those comedies that has fun moments but it also reflects some of the series trials, stress, and hardships Japanese students face.

I mean the drama behind studying and tests is in every high school anime. But this one gave me flashbacks to how intense it is to be a student and trying to pass a class. And the lead is one of those students who takes all of her studies very seriously. To the point where she almost works herself into a coma. The saving grace for the lead is that she makes friends and a lot of her classmates are very colorful and interesting and they breathe life into the lead’s overworked soul.

I will recommend this one because it feels so real compared to other high school animes. It reminded me of Horimiya and A Sign of Affection.

28# The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

What was this? I look it up and I know I watched it but I could not for the life of me recall what happened. You could put a laser gun to my head and I could not tell you much about this one.

A loner high school boy lives alone, and a high school girl next door is also alone and wants someone to love. The boy sees the girl sad in the park and has a chat with her. And then food happens. It feels to me that this was a foodie anime disguised as a rom-com. Was it even fun? I can’t really remember.

I recall the lead boy having his best bro over and the bro’s redheaded girlfriend being in the bro’s lap and the lead boy being all like “That’s a little too much, bro.” And I respond with being so jelly toward the guy’s best bro and wondering if this lead is going to get the angel already. Like, seriously, I was hoping the lead girl was a fallen angel from heaven to add some supernatural spice to this bland rom-com but nope.

It’s a pretty laid back anime that might be perfect to fall asleep to. It was pretty forgettable.

29# Pseudo Harem

So this one follows, surprise-surprise, high school kids falling in love. A freshman girl goes to the drama club and becomes smitten with her senpai who is going to graduate that year. The lead girl finds out the lead guy likes harem anime and she acts like the different love interests that would be found in the genre.

This was charming, more so than I expected. The guy always looks tired and you expect him to be a loner but he’s pretty energetic and super bonds with the girl. And thankfully, it is not an unrequited romance, they both fall for one another right away.

I give the voice actress for the girl credit, you get a sense that she is becoming different characters and it's a lot of fun with the guy’s reaction to each performance.

It’s a solid sweet rom-com with no real conflict and just a chill atmosphere.
